Tips to Plan Ahead for Furnace Installation

If you have a new furnace installation scheduled, congratulations. If you’re interested in upgrading your furnace this winter season but haven’t yet scheduled the service, you can give our team a call to talk about your furnace replacement in Corona.

Before you have your appointment, there are some things that you can do to prepare in advance. Keep reading to learn about the steps that you can take to get ready for a new furnace. A little preparation goes a long way and helping our team make the appointment as successful as it can be.

Know the Plan

Your first step is to talk to our team in great detail so you understand exactly what to expect during the installation appointment. We can talk to you about the specifics of taking out your old heater and installing your new one. If you are switching from gas to electric or vice versa, there will be some extra steps in addressing your household connections to meet the needs of you new system.

Create Space

Next, you want to make room for our team to work. You need to clear path leading into your home and then through your home to the area where your furnace is located. Sometimes furnaces are in a convenient and easy to reach spot, and other times they are not.

Either way, we need to be able to carry parts and equipment from your driveway, in through your front door, and to the area where we will be working. If you are able to move furniture out of the way to give us more space to work in, that would be fantastic.

Before we get started, we will put down drop cloths to protect your floors, and anything that you can move out of the immediate workspace will help us tremendously. This is something that we can talk to you about ahead of the installation so you know what exactly we need.

Clear Your Schedule

It’s also a good idea to clear your schedule so you can be available during the installation. It’s best for you to be home and present while we are installing the new furnace. And while we’re talking about it, it’s also a good idea for you to make arrangements for children and pets.

A furnace installation is not an activity for young kids and pets to be around. If it’s possible to keep them in a separate room, that works. But if you have friends or family who can keep your children and pets for the day, that is ideal. Our goal is to complete the installation as safely as possible.

Expect the Unexpected

It’s also a good idea to go ahead and expect the unexpected. Even the most well laid furnace installation plan can go awry when we uncover unexpected problems. For example, we may begin to take out your old furnace only to find mold growth or damage to electrical and gas lines that we did not anticipate. This can require our team to pivot and make adjustments as we go.

However, this also requires some flexibility on your part since it may change the scope of the project and our timeline. The furnace installation may take longer if we have to complete additional steps that we did not anticipate. But rest assured, our team is always ready to expect the unexpected. We find surprises all the time when completing furnace installations, and can address any need that comes up.
